I just finished reading a book which frankly, in and of itself is a miracle. I rarely have the time or focus to read a book these days. I used to be a book-a-holic before kids but since then...well..my attention is placed elsewhere. As they grow though I find I am able to get more reading done which is really nice.
Anyway - I read "The Wedding" by Nicholas Sparks (author of "The Notebook") and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. A very easy read though the ending gave me pause. I didn't see it coming and I find I am still grappling with trying to sort out the clues that should have led to it. Personally, I would have been happy with the "perceived ending" but the twist it took was intriguing and has left me thinking about the story for days after completing the book.
The book is focuses on Wilson who spends a year doing all he can to undo damage done to his relationship by years of neglect. It's not like he didn't love his wife and family - he just took them for granted and put other things before them. One day he receives a wake-up call that forces him to face the truths and come up with ways to make his relationship better again. The thing that really struck me is that he had gone through his 29 years of marriage believing that everything in his relationship was fine. His wife, however, did not echo that sentiment and, in time, she had pulled away. Clearly he had his work cut out for him.
If you are looking for a good book to while away a few hours, this is it. I really, really enjoyed it.

Casey, sounds like a lovely, thought provoking book, which very much echoes the marriage which I left this summer.
I will have a look at it and let you know what I think. It is such a treat when the kids get a little older and you get time to read again, good for you. It's hard work being a mum.

I just noticed this blog! I guess I'd never been to your profile before to see that you had more than one! Now I know ... you can't talk bad about me here, either! LOL!
The post in December about HEMA ... what a hoot! Now that is one great website!! May I steal it and share it on my blog? Oh, never mind, to "steal" it I don't need permission! giggle!
Later!
