You would think that a 10 cup pot would be plenty of coffee. And I guess it should be but there is something about having a hot cup of coffee in my hands. It just makes everything make sense. Which probably makes no sense at all unless, like me, you are java-addicted. It's not the caffeine. Well - it is in the morning. At least two cups need to be high octane but in the afternoon I just crave holding a nice steaming cup of...well..something...in my hands. If it didn't make me so darn jittery, I'd have a cup in my hands all day long.
Sure, sure - you're right. There is decaf. But I don't want to have to make a whole other pot of coffee and to me, decaf seems like a waste of perfectly good coffee.
It's 3:43pm right now and I am enjoying my last cup of the day. *sigh* That actually makes me a bit sad. That last one of the day. But alas, tomorrow there will be a brand new pot just waiting for me. It really is the simple things in life, isn't it? :)

How about the half-caff stuff? Or switching to hot cocoa in the afternoon?
I have a similar problem, except I don't like the way the coffee tastes after it sits for more than an hour or so, and then I don't have time to make another pot. This problem has weighed heavily on my mind lately. I am a lot nicer when hopped up on caffeine.
Here here!!! there is nothing like a cup of coffee in your hands... and i agree, it is really something about the ritual or familiarity or something. I've tried tea, or cocoa (which always makes my tummy hurt) and it is just not the same as coffee.... coffee after dinner once it is dark is the BEST, sometimes i'll make decaff just because I need the smell and the warmth or something.
I need (yes need) my 2 cups in the morning. Found out I get a huge headache if I don't. SIGH! My boats name is Latte'Dah and so is my journal and e-mail address. Ahh....the love of Coffee!
I got here following a link from someone else. I like your blog! I'm not really a coffee drinker, but I can totally relate. My thing was to have a glass filled with ice and coke! Fortunately I got over that, and drink coke only when I go out.
Greetings from Berlin!
You are Michele's hero. She wishes she could drink that much coffee in the day, but she gets the upset stomach/jitters with too much.
